428 GC Windischgarsten Pyhrn-Priel
18 very natural pathways – and a particularly welcoming 19th Hole – the clubhouse is the Signature Hole! And right beside it, also to be seen from the club terrace and to hear from the 18th hole, is the 20th hole: a lake of 4,600 square meters. The marching direction is given: Less the golf purist, but rather the nature lover and family man will flourish here.
While enjoying the view (on holes 5, 7, 13 and 19), while admiring the natural diversity of the paths (lanes 11 to 15 lead around the Edlbacher Moor, with its special flora and fauna), while rock climbing (hole 4), while swimming ( Hole 20) and while eating: hole 19 is definitely not just a feast for the eyes, but, thanks to the caterer Werner Dilly a palate pleasure and also an architectural eye-catcher: The Salettl can be turned into an open-air restaurant by turning the roof.
Directly in front of the clubhouse is the first tee surrounded by three lakes. The course was “reversed” after completion, which is why the former first nine holes now being played as holes 10 to 18. This resulted in a crisp finishing hole, which opens directly in front of the clubhouse terrace into a peninsula green. A description of the back nine, we brought with the place performance in release 8 / 2005, which is why we focus here on the new holes 1 to 9: The first fairway (par 5, 396/456 metres) initiate us into some peculiarities of the course: The Edlbach comes into play as a faithful companion as well as habitat areas and (depending on season from tender to hard) rough.
The fairways on this golf course are natural meadows; the intensive care is beautiful to look at, even passable to play, but have not the quality of cultivated fairways. But who can dispense with the „carpet“ and rather enjoys the nature and panoramic view – here is the right place. Hole number 4 (par 5, 374/428 metres) is the only really steep challenge, in which the Green also stays hidden for a long time, but marks the highest point of the facility. Our tip: Take a deep breath and enjoy the panoramic view! For the tough climb, you will be rewarded on the next hole, number 5: the 261/304 metres short downhill Par 4 offers a magnificent view – of the surroundings and maybe a birdie!
Another highlight is hole 7 (big picture), a Par 4 (321/364 metres) with a great mountain scenery, is situated in the midst of cultivated farm meadows – a kind of ‚grass in the meadow „enclave. This is consistent and on top of it the lane is also fun in a golf-technical way: Steeply downhill the light left-dogleg is an edgy challenge for long hitters, because the drive to the Green zone is dangerously narrow. In addition, on the second nine, the lanes 13 (downhill Par 3 with 142/162 metres, including the scenery with wow factor) and 18 (the peninsula Green with applause-warranty from the terrace when you hit it) stick out, but the other tracks have their charms, too – not only because of the Edlbach, the moors and the pond. By the way, bathing in the pond is free of charge for members and green fee players.
