HAPPY GOLFERS – This is a solid, beginner-friendly course and a fantastic natural scenery close to the city. This concept just works out.

The short story of GC Spillern reads as follows: After the failure of a very small golf project, the owner of the land, operating bio farmer, buys the half finished product and passes it on to a new company. This company peps up the club and changes it with a lot of ambition into a successful enterprise.

In the meantime, Spillern is an important golfing outpost not far off the city ports. The fairways fit decently into the beginning of the Waldviertel, exactly how everybody wanted. The quality of the offer – course, restaurant, golf school, tournaments, stabilised on a remarkable level. And even if Spillern will never become a high-level Championship course in this life: Despite the handicap, every round is good fun here, even though the better players have an advantage (but where is it not easier for them?). Manager of Spillern, Johannes Culen, strengthens his ideas due to his competence and likeness to Curd Jürgens.

Also his idea to present the wide training facilities to a large amount of people under the motto “fair access to golf”: A three months taster ticket for 110 Euro for unlimited use on 3 fairways (Par 4, 245 to 270 metres, Par 3, 110 to 130 metres and Par 5, 440 to 460 metres), a driving range with 60 tees (12 underneath a roof), 2 putting and 2 pitching Greens, 2 areas for close play and several training bunkers. Included in the price are also ten group-double-lessons with a PGA-Pro, held every Wednesday and Sunday. Per lesson 3 ball coins worth 24 balls included, clubs can be rented for a deposit. Julen: “Target is, to reach the strength of play, which is necessary to pass the license as per ÖGV standards.” The license can be completed for a fee of 37 Euro, not including lessons of rules, which are offered separately. The usage of the training facility is of course possible, even without taster ticket. Costs come up to 14 to 16 Euro per day.
